30 registration counters and 30 mobile teams deployed at Transit Camp Rishikesh for Chardham Yatra registration.

The District Magistrate directed that the Integrated Control Room at the Transit Camp be operational 24×7 and that arrangements be made for free tea, snacks, and meals for pilgrims.

The Municipal Corporation of Rishikesh was granted 50 lakh rupees on the spot from the District Plan for cleaning work; the work permit of the Drinking Water Corporation was revoked and instructions were given to restore the road before the 19th.

A 24×7 medical team will be deployed at Transit Camp Rishikesh and Herbertpur.

Instructions were given to make arrangements for drinking water, mobile toilets, tents, etc. at all Yatra stop barriers.

Dehradun, April 15, 2026 (Suvi), Uttarakhand’s famous Chardham Yatra 2026 is commencing on April 19, 2026, on Akshaya Tritiya. Regarding the preparations for the Yatra in the district, District Magistrate Savin Bansal held an important review meeting with the officials of the concerned departments at Transit Camp Rishikesh. After this, the District Magistrate inspected the registration room and the appropriate premises at Chardham Yatra Transit Camp and gave instructions to make arrangements.

The District Magistrate instructed the Tourism Officer to activate the registration counters and mobile teams. 24 counters have been set up at Chardham Yatra Transit Camp and 6 registration counters at ISBT. The Tourism Department officials informed that 30 mobile teams have been deployed for registration, in which 25 teams will register the people staying in hotels, inns and Dharamshalas during the day and 5 teams will register the people staying in hotels, inns and Dharamshalas from night till early morning. 7100 beds have been identified in Dharamshalas, Ashrams and Sarais.

The District Magistrate directed that large screens be installed at the transit camp, displaying contact numbers of hotels and dharamshalas, along with details about the availability of beds, and that information be posted on flexi boards to avoid inconvenience to travelers. He also directed that an integrated control room be activated 24×7 at the transit camp, staffed by personnel from all departments. The police and health departments will have separate control rooms. The DM directed that a separate passenger assistance center be operated at the Chardham transit camp. He directed the Jal Sansthan to ensure adequate drinking water supply at all pilgrimage stops within the district. The District Magistrate directed that 24×7 medical teams be deployed at the transit camps in Rishikesh and Herbertpur. The Chief Medical Officer informed that six medical teams have been deployed for the Rishikesh and Herbertpur pilgrimage stops, with three teams in Rishikesh and three in Herbertpur. The District Magistrate directed that arrangements for free tea, snacks, and food be made for pilgrims at transit camps. He also directed that the cooperation of self-help groups and other organizations working voluntarily be sought in this work.

Work permit for the Drinking Water Corporation revoked; instructions to restore roads before April 19th

The Uttarakhand Drinking Water Corporation was granted a work permit until April 17, 2026, to lay drinking water lines, but the work was to be completed by the stipulated date. The work was not completed within the stipulated work permit, leading the District Magistrate to cancel all permits until the pilgrimage season and order the immediate repair of dug-up roads and submit a report. He directed officials from the Public Works Department, National Highways Authority of India (PWD), and National Highways Authority of India (NHI) to repair the black spots identified on the pilgrimage routes in a timely manner and submit a report.

The Municipal Corporation of Rishikesh was granted ₹50 lakh (50 lakh rupees) from the District Plan for cleaning work;

The District Magistrate directed the Municipal Corporation of Rishikesh to ensure proper sanitation and fogging arrangements at appropriate locations and to deploy adequate personnel for this. Approving an amount of Rs. 50 lakh from the district plan, the Municipal Corporation was directed to ensure proper sanitation arrangements. He also directed the Corporation to blacklist the firm contracted for transit camp cleaning work. The company was not paying salaries to its personnel, which was hampering the cleaning work. On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Pramod Doval, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Superintendent of Police Traffic Lokjeet Singh, Superintendent of Police Rural Jaya Baluni, Municipal Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Rishikesh Gopalram Binwal, Sub-District Magistrate of Rishikesh Yogesh Mehr, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Superintending Engineer of Jal Sansthan Namit Ramola, District Supply Officer K.K. Agarwal, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Ompal Singh, Divisional Transport Officer Sandeep Saini, along with officials from all related departments were present.
