Unified Ration Card Management System (URCMS) portal has been implemented under the Government of India’s Smart PDS scheme to make ration card-related services more transparent, simple, and technologically sound. Under the new system, citizens will now be able to easily make new ration cards, add and remove names, and perform other amendments from the comfort of their homes.

The URCMS portal has been developed by the government by updating the old RRCMS (Ration Card Management System) portal with modern technology and simplified processes, providing more convenient and transparent services to the general public.

Now, people will no longer have to visit offices or ration shops to make new ration cards or make amendments to old ones. Citizens can apply directly through Citizen Login on the official portal uk.smartpds.nic.in and upload the required documents.

If someone is applying for a new ration card, they must login using Aadhaar-based OTP verification. For any amendments, existing ration card holders must log in using the registered mobile number of the head of the ration card. After OTP verification, necessary amendments to the ration card can be made. The mobile number of the head of the family must be active.

District Supply Officer K.K. Aggarwal stated that the government has made several significant improvements by converting the RCMS portal to the URCMS portal. Now, ration card holders can apply for new ration cards from the comfort of their homes and make amendments to their old cards. He added that citizens can also contact the tehsil and district supply offices to apply for new ration cards. He stated that the new system will make ration card services more transparent and simple.
