District Administration Takes Strict Action Against LPG Cylinder Black Marketing and Illegal Gas Refilling; FIR Registered
6 Cylinders, Electronic Fork, Hanging Weighing Machine Seized; Action Taken Under Essential Commodities Act
Dehradun, April 18, 2026 (Suvi), In compliance with the directives of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the Quick Response Team (QRT) constituted to effectively curb the black marketing of LPG gas in the district is taking strict enforcement action.
The District Administration is continuously taking strict action to effectively curb the black marketing and illegal refilling of LPG gas in the district. The Quick Response Team (QRT), constituted in compliance with the directives of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, is conducting continuous enforcement operations.
In response, the QRT received information from an informant that illegal gas refilling was taking place in a house near Anandi House on the Sudhowala Chowk-Manduwala Road. Taking cognizance of the information, the QRT team immediately conducted a raid on the spot. With the assistance of the police, the materials recovered during the raid were seized, including two 19-kilogram gas cylinders, four 14-kilogram gas cylinders, one electronic weighing scale, one hanging weighing machine, and one flute (refilling device). Shivam, son of Mukesh, was found carrying out illegal refilling operations. Investigation revealed violations of Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and the provisions of the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the individuals involved in this case at the Premnagar police station and legal proceedings have been initiated. The District Magistrate has clarified that strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal activities such as gas black marketing, illegal storage, and refilling in the district. The public has also been urged to immediately report any such illegal activity to the district administration or relevant officials, so that effective action can be taken in a timely manner. District administration teams will continue rigorous inspections and enforcement actions in the district to ensure the smooth and safe availability of LPG gas to consumers.
A total of nine complaints regarding LPG gas supply have been registered through the district administration’s numbers 1077, 0135-2626066, 2726066, and WhatsApp number 7534826066. The District Food Supply Department, Dehradun, located in the control room, is taking immediate action regarding LPG gas supply, cylinder availability, or any other issues. According to information received, over 13,913 domestic and 1,005 commercial gas cylinders have been supplied in the district today. There is a stock of 25,861 domestic and 4,313 commercial LPG cylinders available. The load of domestic as well as commercial LPG gas cylinders is being continuously increased.
