Under *”Operation Kalanemi”*, being conducted across the state on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, the Doon Police is continuously conducting intensive checking campaigns and taking effective action against individuals living in the district illegally and by changing their names and addresses through fraudulent means.
In the same sequence, on 24-11-2025, Kotwali Patel Nagar police received information about two Bangladeshi women staying illegally at different places in the police station area. On the basis of the information received, Kotwali Patel Nagar police took immediate action and detained one woman Bhumi Sharma from Dehra Khas Patel Nagar area. During interrogation, she told her real name as Babli Khatoon wife of Mohd. Munju. Police recovered Aadhar card, Ayushman card, ration card, voter ID and other fake Indian documents in the name of Bhumi Sharma and a Bangladeshi ID in the name of Babli Begum from her possession. On the said woman making fake documents and residing in India illegally and unauthorisedly, FIR No. 633/2025 under sections 420/467/468/471 of IPC and 3 of Passport Act and 14 of Foreigners Act was registered against her at Patel Nagar police station and she was arrested from the spot.
Apart from this, one other woman was taken into custody by the police from Kargi Road Kalinda Vihar Phase 2, Patel Nagar police station. On questioning, she told her name as Bobby Khatun, daughter of Md. Bloomia, wife of Md. Rubel, resident of Haji Garipalsha, Bogura Sadar, District Bogura, Bangladesh, age 41 years. The police team recovered a photocopy of her Bangladeshi identity card from her. After taking the said woman into custody, action is being taken to deport her to Bangladesh as per rules. *Interrogation Details:*
During interrogation, accused Babli Khatoon, alias Bhoomi Sharma, stated that she had illegally crossed the border into India during the COVID-19 pandemic. After living in various locations, she arrived in Dehradun in 2021. In 2022, she married a Dehradun resident, changing her name and address. They began living in rented accommodations in various locations within Dehradun. During this time, the accused obtained fake Indian documents in Bhoomi Sharma’s name through acquaintances. Police are gathering information about the individuals who assisted the accused in creating the fake documents, and legal action will be taken against them.
Another detained Bangladeshi national, Bobby Khatoon, stated during interrogation that she had secretly arrived from Bangladesh in 2023 and had been living illegally in Dehradun since then, earning her living by working as a laborer.
