According to the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department, Dehradun, dated May 27, 2026, an orange alert has been issued for the districts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh on May 28. Thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph and gusty winds with speeds of up to 60 kmph are expected in some areas of these districts. A yellow alert has been issued for May 30 and 31. The State Emergency Operations Center has directed the concerned districts to remain vigilant and ensure necessary precautionary measures. Instructions have been given to maintain special vigil in sensitive areas, to put disaster management departments on alert, and to keep all necessary resources ready for prompt action.
