CAR Module for Empowering Women Doctors
SGRR Medical College Ranks First in Uttarakhand for This Initiative
Under the IAP Presidential Action Plan, a workshop on the CAR Module was organized at SGRR Medical College, Dehradun. The workshop was organized under the guidance of Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Principal of Shri Guru Ram Rai Medical College, and in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Dehradun Branch.
The State Coordinator for the CAR Module was Dr. Alpa Gupta, Professor, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences. The CAR Module’s national faculty members, Dr. Madhu Raturi, Dr. Sangeeta Lodha, Dr. Geeta Khanna, and Dr. Alpa Gupta, provided detailed information on various aspects of women’s empowerment, such as safety and self-defense, active lifestyles, and mental health.
Forty-five MBBS female students participated in the workshop. The CAR Module was designed to enhance their self-confidence and strengthen self-care through mental and physical health.
Dr. Ajay Arya, Director of Medical Education, was the chief guest on this occasion. He stated that such training is crucial in current times. Principal Dr. Utkarsh Sharma stated that such training, along with formal medical education, will help women doctors develop a sense of security and confidence at work.
Dr. Vishal Kaushik, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, SGRRIMHS, expressed his gratitude to all the distinguished guests, faculty members, and participants associated with the CAR (Kick Start Self-Defense, Active Lifestyle, and Resilient Mindset) module.
Senior pediatricians Dr. Rajiv Srivastava, Dr. G.D.S. Bajaj, Dr. Nirul Pandita, Dr. Bindu Agarwal, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Ashish Sethi, Dr. Monica, Dr. Shruti, Dr. Premila, and Dr. Tanvi were also present. This program marked an important step towards promoting women’s empowerment in medical education.
