Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the renovation and renovation of Jugmandar Hall at a cost of ₹23.25 million (23.25 million rupees) as part of the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage at a program organized by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun on Friday. On this occasion, he also laid the foundation stone for the construction of canals at the ABC Center in Kedarpuram and the development and beautification of parks at six locations within the Municipal Corporation area.

Addressing the public, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is working with “Development as well as Heritage” in mind. Today, Dehradun is progressing while preserving its rich identity and cultural heritage. Along with rapid development, the government is working with full commitment to preserve its culture and identity. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extensive efforts are being made to streamline and modernize the country’s urban areas. Through the Swachh Bharat Mission, a new culture of cleanliness has developed in the country’s cities, towns, and cities.

Through the AMRUT Yojana, numerous initiatives are being undertaken to improve water supply, sewerage systems, and green areas in cities. Through the Smart City Mission, cities across the country are being developed to make them modern, well-equipped, and future-ready. Through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the dream of owning a home has been realized for millions of poor families.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working for the overall development of Uttarakhand. Work is being done with full commitment in areas such as infrastructure development, strengthening education and health services, creating new employment opportunities for youth, and other areas. Continuous efforts are being made to make Dehradun a clean, beautiful, and developed city. Solid waste management and sanitation systems in cities are being improved through the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Better amenities are being provided to citizens through schemes such as the Smart City Mission, Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, AMRUT Mission, ODF Abhiyan, and Legacy Waste Management. Urban Health and Wellness Centers have also been established to provide better healthcare services to the people.

The Chief Minister stated that extensive work is underway on various development projects worth over ₹1,400 crore to develop Dehradun as a modern city.

A modern mechanized transfer station has been constructed for waste management. An Integrated Command and Control Center has also been established for real-time monitoring of garbage vehicles. To create a green and healthy Dehradun, 35 parks have been constructed in the city. The city’s largest yoga-themed park has been developed in Kedarpuram. More than 50,000 square meters of green space has been developed through special memorial parks in memory of the martyrs. Recharge pits are being constructed at identified waterlogged locations to promote water conservation. Keeping environmental protection in mind, 30 electric buses are being operated in the city. Charging stations for private electric vehicles have also been established at 11 locations.

 

Dehradun ranked 19th nationwide in the Clean Air Survey under the National Clean Air Program.

 

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which will further speed up traffic. Keeping these potential challenges in mind, the government is paying special attention to the development of parking, drinking water, and other basic amenities. He said that in the future, more efforts will be required to make Dehradun one of the top clean cities in the country.

 

The Chief Minister also said that plans are underway to construct elevated roads over the Rispana and Bindal rivers to reduce traffic congestion in Dehradun.

 

Praising the work done by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation over the past year, the Chief Minister said that the Municipal Corporation has increased revenue collection from approximately ₹52 crore to ₹73 crore, a significant 40 percent increase in revenue. Previously, approximately 190 to 200 vehicles were engaged in door-to-door garbage collection, but today their number has increased to approximately 300.

 

The Chief Minister stated that it is the state government’s clear commitment to prevent encroachment on government land. It is the Municipal Corporation’s important responsibility to free government and municipal land from encroachment.

 

He expected all public representatives and officials of the Municipal Corporation to take proactive action on this issue. He called on the public to work together to make Dehradun a clean, beautiful, and modern city.

Cabinet Ministers Subodh Uniyal, Ram Singh Kaida, Khajan Das, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Savita Kapoor, Sahdev Singh Pundir, Dehradun Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, and other public representatives were present on the occasion.
