Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while participating in the 27th Foundation Day celebrations of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation on Tuesday, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth over ₹46 crore in the Dehradun Metropolitan area.

 

Addressing the program, Chief Minister Dhami said that over the past 27 years, the Dehradun Municipal Corporation has played a key role in developing Dehradun as a clean, safe, and well-organized city, achieving numerous achievements in the areas of expanding civic amenities and modern urban management. He said that this Dehradun Municipal Corporation Foundation Day is an occasion to celebrate these achievements and also to realize the dreams of development on the ground, keeping in mind the challenges of the times to come. The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is setting new milestones of development and prosperity. Today, numerous projects are providing a new direction to the development of urban areas across the country. The Swachh Bharat Mission has fostered a new culture of cleanliness in millions of cities, towns, and cities across the country. The AMRUT scheme has improved water supply, sewerage, and green spaces in urban areas. Similarly, the Smart Cities Mission has emerged as a model for urban development.

Chief Minister Dhami stated that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, the state government is working with full commitment to transform Dehradun into a modern and developed city. While the Swachh Bharat Mission is strengthening the city’s solid waste management and sanitation system, efforts are also being made to provide better amenities to its citizens through public welfare schemes such as the Smart City Mission, Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, AMRUT Mission, Open Defecation Free Campaign, and Legacy Waste Management. The Chief Minister stated that the government is working on various projects worth over 1,400 crore rupees to establish Dehradun as a modern city. A modern mechanized transfer station has been constructed for waste management in the city, and an Integrated Command and Control Center has been established for real-time monitoring of garbage vehicles. To create a green and healthy Dehradun, 35 parks have also been constructed at various locations in the city.

 

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the state government is constructing the city’s largest yoga-themed park in Kedarpuram. Over 50,000 square meters of green space is being developed in the city through special memorial parks in memory of the martyrs. The “Renew Rispana” campaign is also being implemented to revive the city’s rivers. He said that 30 electric buses are being operated to promote environmental protection in the city, and charging stations for private electric vehicles have been constructed at 11 locations. Due to the efforts of the state government, Dehradun has achieved 19th place nationwide in the Clean Air Survey conducted by the central government under the National Clean Air Program. Furthermore, Dehradun has significantly improved in the national cleanliness ranking of the cleanest cities, achieving 62nd place this year.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the state government is also striving for a permanent solution to the traffic and parking problems in Dehradun. To this end, underground parking is being constructed at various locations, and plans are also being developed to construct elevated roads over the Rispana and Bindal rivers to ease traffic congestion. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also rewarded Municipal Corporation personnel for their outstanding work.

 

On this occasion, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal stated that efforts are being made to develop Dehradun as a modern and environmentally friendly city. He also presented details of the development works being carried out by the Municipal Corporation.

 

Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, MLAs Khajan Das, Vinod Chamoli, Umesh Sharma Kau, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, along with officials and councilors were present at the event.

*Foundation Stone Laying*

1 – Development of the road footpath, greenery, and beautification work from Kirsali Chowk to Sahastradhara Crossing. Cost: 264.21 lakh.

2 – Construction of a gas-powered animal crematorium for disposal of dead animal carcasses at Mothrowala. Cost: 147.89 lakh.

3. Development of road footpath, greenery, and beautification work from Canal Road, Luxuria Farm to Ajanta Hotel. Cost: 247.58 lakh.

4. Development of road footpath from Kuthal Gate to Rajpur Chowk. Cost: 257.67 lakh.

5. Development of road footpath from Ghantaghar to RTO Chowk. Cost: 165.84 lakh.

6. Development of road footpath from Ghantaghar to Yamuna Colony. Cost: 193.11 lakh.

7. Development of road footpath from Vivekananda Chowk to Kuthal Gate. Cost: 234.79 lakh.
