District administration cracks down on child labor, 7 child laborers rescued, FIRs filed against 7 establishments

Two child laborers rescued under Vikasnagar police station, two in Sahaspur, and three in Patelnagar; campaign against child labor will continue

On the DM’s instructions, the administration took major action against child labor under Vikasnagar, Sahaspur, and Patelnagar police stations.

Rescued child/adolescent laborers underwent medical checks and were presented before the Child Welfare Committee.

Dehradun, November 25, 2025 (Suvi) On the instructions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, a comprehensive child labor eradication campaign was launched in the district. As part of the campaign, teams formed at various locations conducted simultaneous intensive inspections and raids. As per the instructions of the District Magistrate, joint teams of Labour Department, Police Department, DTF team and other NGOs, Bachpan Bachao Andolan and Child Development Department along with related agencies remained active in the field since morning and searched for minor children working in various markets, industrial units, hotels-dhabas, workshops and other commercial establishments of the city. District Magistrate Savin Bansal said that ‘The district administration is committed to eradicating child labour. Those who snatch childhood and education from children will not be spared. Any kind of illegal child labour activity will not be tolerated in the district. Such campaigns will continue regularly in the future.” He also appealed to the community to immediately report child labor to the district administration or related departments.

Raids were conducted at nine establishments under the Vikasnagar police station, where one child laborer was rescued from M/s AB Fabrication, Jeevangai, and one from M/s New Bharat Tyre Puncture, Jeevangad. Raids were conducted at 12 establishments under the Patel Nagar police station, where one child laborer was rescued from M/s Delhi Automobile, Kargi Chowk, one from M/s Suhail Body Care, Menhuwala, and one from M/s Akhtar Wood Work, Menhuwala. Similarly, raids were conducted at two establishments under the Sahaspur police station, where one child laborer was rescued from M/s Shri Balaji Auto Repair Parts and one from M/s Brothers Restaurant, Langha Road. A total of 23 establishments were raided, with seven child laborers rescued from seven establishments. Medical examinations of child/adolescent workers were conducted. After getting them arrested, they were presented before the Child Welfare Committee, Kedarpuram. And on finding child labour employed in 07 establishments, FIR was lodged against the owners of the establishments at the concerned police stations.

During the campaign, minor children were found working at many places, who were immediately rescued and presented before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Action was initiated against the operators of the concerned establishments under the Child Labour Prohibition Act. The teams also provided necessary information related to labour laws and child rights on the spot.
