On the night of March 23, 2026, the Premnagar Police Station received information via the Control Room stating that a youth had been critically injured during a physical altercation between several young men in Kehri Village, Premnagar. The injured youth had been taken to the Premnagar Hospital by his companions for medical treatment. Acting on this information, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Premnagar, accompanied by a police force, immediately reached the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Premnagar. Given the critical condition of the injured youth—identified as Divyanshu Jatrana, son of Amit Jatrana; resident of Village Athai, Police Station Bhopa, District Muzaffarnagar (U.P.), currently residing in Premnagar, Dehradun; age 22 years—doctors referred him to Doon Hospital. As the hospital ambulance was out of order, the police transported the injured youth to Doon Hospital in an official police vehicle for treatment; en route, the youth’s family members were informed of the incident, and they subsequently arrived at Doon Hospital.

The injured youth passed away late at night while undergoing treatment at Doon Hospital. The police have deposited the deceased’s body in the mortuary for further necessary legal proceedings. Based on a written complaint submitted by the family members regarding the incident, a case has been registered at the Premnagar Police Station under Sections 3(5), 61(2), 103(1), and 191(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Upon investigating the incident, it was revealed that youths from both factions are students at a private educational institution located in Premnagar. A long-standing rivalry existed between them regarding mutual dominance within the college; consequently, on March 23, 2026, a dispute and physical altercation ensued between the two groups. Acting swiftly in response to the complaint, the police have taken three accused individuals involved in the incident into custody. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the other individuals involved in the incident.
