Plantation campaign organized at Sri Guru Ram Rai University on World Environment Day
Dehradun I On the occasion of World Environment Day, a plantation campaign was organized at the agricultural farm located at Pathribag campus of Sri Guru Ram Rai University. This campaign was jointly organized by the National Cadet Corps and the School of Agricultural Sciences.

The President of the University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj gave the message of environmental conservation to all.
Registrar Prof. Dr. Lokesh Gambhir and Dean Student Welfare Professor Dr. Malvika Sati Kandpal were present as chief guests in the program. With their guidance and inspiration, enthusiasm for environmental conservation was seen among the students and participants. Addressing the students, Chief Guest Dr. Lokesh Gambhir said that conservation of natural resources is the biggest need of today. Planting trees is not only an environmental duty, but it is also a gift for our future generations. He said that such events are not just a one-day celebration, but are part of a continuous process, in which the role of every person is important. Students can do something meaningful for the society and the environment by becoming a part of this campaign.
DSW Professor Dr. Malvika Sati Kandpal motivated the students and said that every small effort together can lead to a big change. She appealed to be sensitive and responsible towards the environment.
This campaign was led by Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Dr. Priyanka Bankoti. She said that it is the moral responsibility of all of us to keep the earth green. Trees not only keep the environment clean, but are also very important for biodiversity and climate balance.
On this occasion, ANO of NCC Boys Unit Dr. Khilendra Singh and ANO of NCC Girls Unit Dr. Anuja Rohila took active participation along with the cadets. Hundreds of plants were planted in the campus, which included fruit-bearing, shady and medicinal plants.
NCC cadets and students of the Faculty of Agriculture together planted hundreds of plants and took a pledge that they will also take care of these plants with full devotion.
On this occasion, Deans, teachers and hundreds of students of all the schools of the university were present.

Lecture organized for environmental awareness
Dehradun. On the occasion of World Environment Day, a lecture was organized for awareness among the students under the auspices of IQAC by the Department of Geography, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, under the Alumni Lecture Series, in which as the chief guest, the university’s alumni Vikas Anthony gave his lecture and presented his views for the protection of the environment.
In the lecture organized at Pathribag Auditorium, he said that we have to start the campaign of environmental awareness from home itself. We have to avoid the use of plastic or at least use it, only then we can avoid pollution caused by plastic. This year the theme of World Environment Day has also been kept as “Beat Plastic Pollution”. He said that we cannot completely give up plastic but we can reduce its use. On this occasion, Dean Prof. Preeti Tiwari said that to deal with the problem of plastic, we have to move towards the solution. Prof. Ashish Kulshreshtha said on this occasion that we should avoid single use plastic. The program was organized by Prof. Geeta Rawat, Dr. Jyotsna Kukreti, Dr. Surinder Kaur Rawal from the Department of Geography. Many teachers and students were present on this occasion.
