On the morning of January 18, 2026, Rajpur Police Station received information through the control room that some unknown persons had committed a robbery at the residence of Mr. Bhuvan Gandhi, located near Sankia Hospital on Rajpur Road, after threatening his mother. Upon receiving this information, the Station House Officer of Rajpur, along with the police force, immediately reached the spot. Senior officers inspected the crime scene and gathered information about the incident. Upon questioning the elderly victim at the scene, she stated that she lives in the house with her son. Her son had gone to Delhi on January 16, 2026, to drop off his family. During this time, on the night of January 17, 2026, two unknown persons opened the door to her room and entered. They threatened and intimidated her, then looted jewelry and cash from the cupboard in the room and fled with her mobile phone. Based on the written complaint filed by the victim’s son, Mr. Bhuvan Gandhi, the police registered a case against the unknown accused under the relevant sections at Rajpur Police Station.
Considering the sensitivity of the incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, formed separate teams to investigate the crime and arrest the accused. The formed teams collected necessary information about the suspects from CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene. Simultaneously, intelligence gathering was intensified, and the informer network was activated. Today, January 21, 2026, based on information from an informer, during a checking operation near Yograj Farm Band between Kirsali Chowk and Maldevta Road, three accused involved in the incident were arrested: 1. Shafat Ali, 2. Nadeem alias Guddu, and 3. Ishtiaq alias Kule. The looted jewelry and cash, along with the Wagon R car used in the crime, were recovered from them. *Details of the interrogation:*
During interrogation, the main accused, Shafaat Ali, stated that he previously worked as a driver at the complainant’s house, but the complainant had dismissed him during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the complainant’s elderly mother occasionally called him to her house to take her to the Gurudwara. Before the incident, on January 16, 2026, the accused called the complainant’s servant to inquire about the mother’s visit to the Gurudwara. The servant informed Shafaat Ali that the mother would not be going to the Gurudwara because the homeowner and his son were out of town. Upon learning that the elderly woman was alone at home, the accused planned a robbery. On the night of January 17, 2026, the accused, along with his brother-in-law Nadeem and another relative, Ishtiaq, arrived near the complainant’s house in Nadeem’s Wagon R car at around 10:00 PM. Nadeem dropped the other two off at the back of the house and parked the car in a secluded spot near the Sai Temple to avoid suspicion. He then walked back to join the other two. The three accused, taking advantage of the darkness, climbed over the wall at the back of the complainant’s house and entered the premises. Since the accused frequently visited the complainant’s house, he knew that there were no CCTV cameras installed. While searching for a way to enter the house, they noticed a window that had been left open for ventilation. The accused and his accomplices entered the complainant’s house through this window. The accused’s accomplices intimidated and threatened the elderly woman and looted jewelry and cash from the house. After the incident, the three accused went to their respective rented rooms. They were planning to flee to their homes today, but the police arrested them during a routine check. *Details of the arrested accused:*
