*♦️ Major Operation by Uttarakhand STF Against Weapons Traffickers: Recovery of a Large Cache of Automatic Weapons (Pump-Action Guns/Pistols)*
*♦️ Two cunning accused individuals arrested, along with the seizure of 02 pump-action guns, 02 .32 bore pistols, 10 cartridges, and the car used for weapons trafficking.*
*♦️ The network of a gang active across two states (Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh) has been dismantled.*
*♦️ Among the arrested individuals, accused Simranjeet was identified as a ‘History-Sheeter’ (habitual offender) of Pulbhatta Police Station, with over a dozen criminal cases registered against him across the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.*
*♦️ This marks the State STF’s third major operation against illegal weapons within just two weeks; in a span of merely 10 days, the STF has apprehended 05 notorious criminals and recovered 06 illegal country-made pistols, 02 pump-action guns, 02 .32 bore pistols, and 31 cartridges.*
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), STF, Ajay Singh had issued specific directives to all STF teams to initiate operations—including arrests and crackdowns—against foreign nationals residing illegally, infiltrators, Bangladeshi nationals, suspicious outsiders, active criminal gangs, and individuals involved with illegal weapons.
In furtherance of these directives, the Anti-Narcotics Team (Kumaon) of the Uttarakhand STF, acting in a joint operation with the Jaspur Kotwali Police, recovered 02 pump-action guns, 02 .32 bore pistols, and 10 live .32 bore cartridges from two accused individuals. The two accused—1. Shamsher Singh (son of Kulwant Singh), resident of Village Hazira, Jaspur Police Station, District Udham Singh Nagar; and 2. Simranjeet (son of Ajmer), resident of Anjaniya Farm, Pulbhatta Police Station, District Udham Singh Nagar—were arrested from the Jaspur area. A case has been registered against them at Jaspur Kotwali under the relevant sections of the Arms Act. The accused stated that the aforementioned weapons were procured from Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and were likely being transported to Jaspur for sale. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the plan involved affixing forged licenses to these weapons before distributing them further. Action is currently being taken based on all received intelligence inputs.
