At a program held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the state government is implementing the Nanda Gaura Yojana to eliminate discrimination between boys and girls at birth and to encourage the birth of girls. Under this scheme, the state government provides ₹11,000 for the birth of a girl child and ₹51,000 for higher education upon passing the 12th grade. As a result, the position of women in Uttarakhand in government services has strengthened, significantly improving the work culture in government offices. The Chief Minister stated that the government is also striving to strengthen the economic status of ordinary women in the state through the Lakhpati Didi Scheme. He said that the Nanda Gaura Yojana has been successful in achieving the goals of stopping female foeticide, encouraging institutional delivery, promoting girl child education and eliminating gender inequality in the society.
On this occasion, departmental minister Rekha Arya said that among the girls benefiting this year, 5913 are newborns, while the remaining 27338 have received this amount on passing 12th. She extended her best wishes to all the beneficiaries.
