Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Union Energy, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss various state-related issues. The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to approve funds for a project worth approximately ₹325 crore related to the Ganga Corridor area in Haridwar city. In view of the upcoming Kumbh 2027, the Chief Minister requested the early approval of ₹325 crore for the first phase of this project for undergrounding power lines and automating the system, and also requested approval of the remaining ₹425 crore for the second phase.

In preparation for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar and Rishikesh, the Chief Minister requested the Central Government to provide necessary support for the beautification of ghats in Haridwar, strengthening residential facilities, and developing urban infrastructure. He stated that these works would provide better facilities to pilgrims and tourists visiting the state.

To strengthen regional transportation, the Chief Minister requested the extension of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project from Meerut to Haridwar and Rishikesh, as well as the development of the Dehradun-Haridwar-Rishikesh Metro Corridor to facilitate travel between these cities. The Chief Minister stated that the implementation of these projects would reduce dependence on road transport in the region, alleviate traffic congestion, and have a positive environmental impact. He stated that this initiative would provide a new impetus to regional economic activities, tourism, and overall development by connecting Uttarakhand’s major pilgrimage sites to a modern transportation network.

Union Energy, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar assured positive action on the proposals presented by the Chief Minister.
