Student Council Oath-Taking Ceremony Held in a Dignified Manner

Dehradun: The Student Council Oath-Taking Ceremony for the 2025-26 Student Council was held with great enthusiasm and dignity on Monday at Shri Guru Ram Rai University. The event was held in the university’s auditorium at Pathribag.

On this occasion, Shri Guru Ram Rai University President Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, in his message, said that students are the greatest strength of any institution. The Student Council provides students with an opportunity to follow the ideals of leadership, discipline, and service. He called upon all Student Council members to work diligently for the progress of both society and the university.

The event was organized under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prathapan K. Pillai. The event was conducted by Dean of Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Malavika Sati Kandpal.

The event began with invocations and the lighting of lamps. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prathapan K. In his inspiring address, Pillai stated that the Student Council plays a crucial role in the university’s progress. Through this leadership platform, students not only develop their personalities but also advance the university’s culture, discipline, and values of cooperation. The new Student Council should successfully discharge its responsibilities with responsibility, honesty, and dedication. The Vice-Chancellor urged the new Student Council office bearers to create an inclusive environment within the university, where every student feels connected to the council. They should always maintain ethical and upright behavior, organize positive and productive activities within the university, and contribute to keeping the campus clean, safe, and environmentally friendly. This is the hallmark of a responsible Student Council.

 

Dean of Student Welfare, Prof. (Dr.) Malavika Sati Kandpal, stated that the Student Council’s responsibility is to create a positive, safe, and inspiring environment while maintaining the university’s reputation, discipline, and harmony. This leadership opportunity will play a crucial role in shaping their future. She extended her heartfelt best wishes to the new Student Council.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by the University’s Alumni Council President, Vineet Thapa. The newly elected Student Council members pledged to perform their duties with integrity, impartiality, and dedication. Among the newly elected Student Council members, Ayush Bhatt, D.Pharma, fifth year, was sworn in as President, and Manmeet Kaur, B.Com, third semester, was sworn in as Vice President.

 

Furthermore, Praveen Kumar Singh, B.A. Defense, fifth semester, was sworn in as General Secretary, Ankita Rawat, BBA, third semester, was sworn in as Joint Secretary, Pranav Kumar Jha, BPT, fourth year, was sworn in as Cultural Secretary, and Amrish Dhiman, B.A. Music, third semester, was sworn in as Second Cultural Secretary. Similarly, Sanjay Singh, B.M.L.T., third semester, was sworn in as Sports Secretary, Saloni Semwal, B.Pharma, first semester, was sworn in as Second Sports Secretary, and Sanskriti Gairola, B.Sc. Biotechnology, third semester, was sworn in as Historian.

 

Adarsh Pandey, BPT, third semester, served as Discipline Secretary, Chirag Agarwal, BBA, third semester, served as Second Discipline Secretary, Tanishka Bhadri, B.Ed., first semester, served as Third Discipline Secretary, Atul Pratap Yadav, B.Pharmacy, seventh semester, served as Fourth Discipline Secretary, and Aparna Saini, B.A. Psychology, third semester, served as Treasurer.

 

During the program, former Student Council President Vineet Thapa was honored by the Honorable Vice Chancellor with a certificate. The ceremony concluded with the University administration wishing all the newly elected Student Council office bearers a bright future and a successful tenure.

 

The program was attended by hundreds of students, including IQAC Director Prof. Dr. Sonia Gambhir, Deputy Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Anuja Rohilla, Proctor Prof. Dr. Ganarajan, University Sports Officer S.P. Joshi, Deans, Heads of Departments, and faculty from all the University schools.
