Hundreds of doctors and health staff participated in the public awareness rally.

Dehradun: On the occasion of World Heart Day, the Cardiology Department of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital organized a grand cyclothon and walkathon on Sunday. The theme of the event was “Don’t Miss a Beat.” Hundreds of doctors and health staff participated enthusiastically in the campaign. Holding placards with slogans, participants spread the message of the importance of preventing, protecting, and timely treatment of heart disease. Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, Chairman of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, praised the event and congratulated and wished the team. The entire team of the Cardiology Department of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital made World Heart Day even more special with their cooperation and dedication.

 

On Sunday, the program started at 6 am from Suri Chowk, Race Course. Chief Guests Dr. Ajay Kumar Arya, Director of Medical Education, Health Department, Uttarakhand, Dr. Ashok Nayak, Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Dr. R.P. Singh, Coordinator, SGRR University, Dr. Anil Malik, Chief Medical Superintendent, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and Prof. (Dr.) Tanuj Bhatia, Head of Department, Cardiology Department, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital flagged off the rally. The rally passed through Police Line, Siddharth Racecourse and Punjab National Bank Chowk and concluded back at Suri Chowk.

During the program, Dr. Ajay Arya said that by adopting the mantra of “Healthy Heart, Happy Life” everyone can live a long and better life. He appealed to the people to adopt a balanced diet, regular exercise and a stress-free lifestyle. 

Dr. Tanuj Bhatia, while addressing the youth and the elderly, said that “More water, less stress, the heart will always remain soft” and “Remove stress, make the heart smile.” He also gave the message that by staying away from smoking and getting regular health checkups, it is possible to prevent many heart diseases. Through slogans, the general public was inspired that “Exercise is the medicine for the heart, do it daily and get miraculous benefits.” Chief Guest Dr. Ajay Kumar Arya, Director of Medical Education, Health Department, Uttarakhand; Dr. Ashok Nayak, Principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences; Dr. R.P. Singh, Coordinator, SGRR University; Dr. Anil Malik, Chief Medical Superintendent, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital; and Prof. (Dr.) Tanuj Bhatia, Head of the Department of Cardiology, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, honored the winners of the cyclothon and walkathon with prizes. Dr. Richa Sharma, Dr. Bhavana Prabhakar, Dr. Anamika Gupta, Dr. Mayank Agarwal, and faculty members contributed significantly to the success of the event. Dr. R.K. Verma, Senior Surgeon, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, and Dr. Sanjay Sadhu, Plastic Surgeon, also spoke at the event. They emphasized that heart health is in everyone’s own hands. If people are cautious in time, serious illnesses like heart disease can be prevented. The organizers said that only a healthy heart can lead to a healthy family and a healthy society.
