Dehradun: The school management did not allow the 11th class student who returned from Raja Anand Singh Government Girls Inter College of Almora after marriage to sit in the class by saying that her being married can spoil the atmosphere of the school, clearly violating the human rights of the student.
Human rights, RTI and social activist Bhupendra Kumar Laxmi filed a PIL in the Human Rights Commission Uttarakhand in the above case and requested that ‘The management closed the doors for the 11th class student who returned from Raja Anand Singh Government Girls Inter College of Almora after marriage. The school did not allow the student to sit in the class by saying that her being married can spoil the atmosphere of the school.
That Simran, a resident of Niyazganj, is an adult, she got married on 28th July and when she reached school on 3rd August after the marriage, she was not allowed to sit in the class.
That the school management’s argument for not allowing her to sit in the class after marriage is not acceptable to the student and her family.
The student and her family are shocked to hear the strange argument of the Principal and the teachers. They allege that the school management is playing with the future of the student.
The Raja Anand Singh Government Girls Inter College management argued that a married student cannot be made to sit as a regular student. This will spoil the atmosphere of the school. The student was even told that she will now have to study as a private candidate. 11th class student Simran and her family were shocked to hear the strange argument of the Principal and the teachers. The student told that her mother-in-law also met the Principal but she said that she had taken permission from higher authorities.
Therefore, it is requested to the Honorable Sir that the subject of the complaint is very serious and is related to the future of the student and is clearly a violation of her human rights for which the school management is responsible, so please call for a report in public interest and take immediate action.

Complainant Bhupendra Kumar Laxmi said that the school management did not allow the 11th class girl student, who returned after marriage, to sit in the class at Raja Anand Singh Government Girls Inter College, Almora, saying that her being married could spoil the atmosphere of the school. The complainant states that this is clearly a violation of the human rights of the student, a complaint has been submitted regarding calling a report in public interest and taking action.
A copy of the complaint should be sent to the Chief Education Officer, Almora so that he presents his report in this regard before the Commission before the next date.
It is known that in case of non-action as per the above order of the Commission, the Commission will pass appropriate orders after consideration.
