*Child crimes and crimes related to women, especially those registered under the POCSO Act, are highly sensitive offenses, for which, under special laws, disclosing or disseminating/publicizing the victim’s identity in any manner, whether publicly or through the media, is a punishable offense. A charge has been registered against those who publicly disclosed the victim’s identity through the media in this case, and strict legal action will be taken against all those who engage in such activities. Date On 30.9.2025, on the basis of the complaint of the father of the minor victim, FIR No. 472/25 was registered at Kotwali Rishikesh under Section 65(2), 351(3) BNS and Section 5(m)/6 of the POCSO Act and the accused was arrested on 01-10-25 and sent to judicial custody in District Jail Sudhowala and the investigation is ongoing.
In the above case, some unknown persons have circulated the photo, video of the minor victim along with his identity on social media. Taking cognizance of this, Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun Ajay Singh gave instructions to take legal action against the concerned in the said sensitive case under POCSO Act and BNS. In accordance with the instructions received, immediately a case was registered by the Investigating Officer at Kotwali Rishikesh against all the persons who had revealed the identity of the victim on social media, FIR No. 475/25 under Section 23(4) POCSO Act and Section 72 BNS.
