*Inter-state burglary gang caught by Doon Police*
*Doon Police disclosed two separate incidents of burglary in different police station areas*

On 24/06/2025, Shri Himanshu Negi son of late Shri Trilok Singh Negi resident of Shiva Colony, Paonta Road, Herbertpur came to Police Station Vikasnagar and lodged a complaint that he had gone to his native village in Almora district with his family, when he returned home, he found that the house was missing. All the belongings were scattered. The jewellery and cash kept in the house were stolen by unknown thieves. On the basis of the complaint, FIR No. 187/2025 Section-305 (A) FIR No. was registered at Vikasnagar Police Station.
For uncovering the incident and arresting the accused, the Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun constituted a team at Kotwali Vikasnagar and gave necessary directions. The constituted team inspected the incident spot and closely observed the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby and on the roads and collected information about the suspects and activated the informers by making them aware of the appearance of the suspects obtained from the CCTV cameras. Along with this, the current status of the accused who came to light in the previous incidents of burglary was known and their physical verification was done.
Date: 30-01/07/2025, late night, 03 persons roaming suspiciously in the garden near Jhaduwala Chowk were stopped and questioned by the police. They told their names as 1- Swatantrata Sharma, 2- Amit Kushwaha and 3- Akash Vishwakarma, native of Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, currently tenants of Herbertpur, Vikasnagar. On strict interrogation of the three persons regarding their roaming late at night, they told that they were roaming around with the intention of committing a theft. Also, a few days ago, they accepted committing the thefts in 02 closed houses in Herbertpur in Vikasnagar area and Dharmawala in Sahaspur area and told that they hid the stolen goods in the said incidents in their rented room in Herbertpur. On which, on the identification of the accused, the police team recovered the jewellery, cash and other items stolen in both the incidents from their rented room in Herbertpur. All the three accused were arrested by the police from the spot.
*Interrogation details:-*
During interrogation, the main accused Swatantrata Sharma told that he had come to Herbertpur from Jhansi for networking business about 02 years ago, where the company had provided him a room on rent. After working for about 6 months, when there was no major income, he left the networking work and started preparing for a government job. During this time, due to financial problems, he committed petty thefts, in which, on getting more money with less effort, he convinced his classmate Akash, who worked as a laborer in Jhansi, to commit the crimes together and also brought another acquaintance of his, Amit Kushwaha, from Jhansi to Herbertpur with him, where the three of them used to stay in one room and do recce of closed houses during the day and mark the houses and get complete information about all the routes and at night they used to break the locks of the houses with the help of pickaxe and crowbar and commit thefts in the houses.
The accused used to keep the stolen items in their room and on finding an opportunity, one of the accused would take the stolen items to Jhansi and sell them. It has come to light that the accused have also committed thefts in other states, information regarding which is being collected.

2- Amit Kushwaha son Harsh Kushwaha resident near Kashirama Park, Balaji Puram Colony, Thana Kanthipa Ganj, Jhansi Uttar Pradesh, age 19 years
3- Akash Vishwakarma son Santosh Vishwakarma, resident near Kanrondi Mata Mandir, Azadnagar, Thana Raksha, District Jhansi Uttar Pradesh, age 24 years

1- Jewellery, idols and other items worth about Rs 8 lakh stolen in the incidents. 2- 4500/- rupees cash
