Various political and non-political organizations have called for a Uttarakhand bandh (strike) on January 11, 2026, demanding a CBI inquiry into the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Following the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s recommendation for a CBI inquiry into the matter, various trade associations and taxi/bus unions have decided not to support the strike, considering that legal proceedings are already underway. They have decided to continue their operations as usual. However, in view of the possibility of their work being forcibly disrupted by those participating in the strike, they have requested police protection from SSP Dehradun, Ajay Singh.

*The general public is requested to keep any demonstrations peaceful and within constitutional limits. If any individual attempts to forcibly close markets, stop public transport, or disrupt public order, strict legal action will be taken against them: Ajay Singh, SSP Dehradun*
