Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun District, Ajay Singh, has given necessary instructions to all his subordinates to effectively control road accidents and take effective action against drivers who violate traffic rules by driving at high speed and in the wrong direction.
In compliance with these instructions, today, on January 9, 2026, during checking near Chowki Gate Lal Tappad, a Tata Tiago vehicle number UK-14-D-0945 was coming from the Nepali Farm side towards Lal Tappad at a very high speed in the wrong direction. The police team stopped and checked the vehicle on the spot. When the driver, Vishal, son of Shri Sukhwinder, resident of Nakshatra Vatika, Jwalapur, Haridwar district, was questioned about driving the vehicle at a very high speed and on the wrong side, he could not give any satisfactory answer. The police seized the vehicle on the spot and registered a case against the driver under FIR No. 10/2026, Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), at Kotwali Doiwala, for driving his vehicle on a public road in the wrong direction at high speed and in a dangerous manner, thereby endangering his own life and the lives of the general public, and creating the possibility of causing physical harm to any person/member of the public or causing a serious road accident.
Until now, the police have been taking action under the Motor Vehicles Act for traffic rule violations, but now, in serious cases of traffic rule violations, the police will directly register a case.
