On the night of 01-11-2024, Kotwali Patel Nagar received information that a fight was going on between two parties in Gandhi Gram, on receiving the information, the Circle Officer Sadar and Inspector in charge Kotwali Patel Nagar reached the spot with force, where people of the locality had gathered in large numbers. Seeing the tense atmosphere on the spot, the crowd gathered was dispersed by the police force.
On enquiring about the incident, it was found that there was a dispute between two youths living in the locality over some issue and due to this dispute, Harinath alias Hanna, his brother and 12-13 other people from one side reached the house of a person from the other side living in the other street with the intention of fighting. Seeing the ruckus, the people of the neighborhood reached to intervene, on which the people of the first party beat up and attacked the people who came to intervene.
People got seriously injured in the incident. As soon as the Patel Nagar Police Station received the information about the said fight, the police informed the higher officials about the incident and without any delay reached the spot, calmed the tense atmosphere and dispersed the angry crowd in the locality and on the basis of the complaint of the injured Shri Manoj Sharma, a case was immediately registered in Patel Nagar Police Station against 13 named and other unknown persons under serious sections. Four separate teams were formed as per the orders of SSP Dehradun to arrest the accused involved in the incident. The formed teams raided the houses of the people involved in the riot till late night and arrested 05 named accused. Efforts are being made to identify the remaining accused involved in the incident and arrest them.
