For the first time in Dehradun, diagnostic centers are now being granted permission only after meeting public safety standards. Building safety and fire safety; biomedical waste disposal; sewage treatment system; permission is granted only after an NOC from the Pollution Control Board.
The DM has made compliance with the PCPNDT Act, Clinical Establishment Act 2010, and Biomedical Waste Management Rules mandatory; otherwise, centers, clinics, and hospitals are being sealed.
Dehradun, April 9, 2026 (Suvi) The district administration has issued strict instructions regarding the registration and renewal of all ultrasound and radio diagnostic centers operating and proposed in the district. District Magistrate Savin Bansal has issued strict instructions that no diagnostic center will operate without full compliance with the prescribed public safety standards. The district administration has taken strict steps to ensure the safety of the public by registering ultrasound centers and radio diagnostic centers located in hospitals and other locations in the district. For the past six months, the district administration has been granting new registrations to diagnostic centers that meet the standards and renewing the registrations of existing centers.
The District Magistrate directed that all hospitals, ultrasound centers, and radiodiagnostic centers must comply with the provisions of the Clinical Establishment Act 2010. Additionally, proper arrangements for the safe disposal of biomedical waste must be ensured under the Biomedical Waste Management Rules. Compliance with the PCPNDT Act has also been made mandatory for centers providing ultrasound services.
He stated that during the registration or renewal process, full compliance with standards will be ensured, including sanitation and hygiene, building safety, fire safety certificates, valid biomedical waste disposal procedures and certifications, mandatory sewage treatment systems, and a Pollution Control Board NOC.
The District Magistrate directed the concerned officials to thoroughly scrutinize all applications and grant registration/renewal only to centers that fully meet all standards. If any irregularities are found, strict action will be taken against those involved, as per the rules. He also said that these standards will be strictly enforced, prioritizing the quality of health services in the district and the safety of the general public.
