District Administration Cracks Down on LPG Black Marketing; Conducts Surprise Inspections of Two Gas Agencies
Directives Issued to Register Cases Against Supervisors and Delivery Personnel for Gas Delivery Irregularities
Dehradun, March 14, 2026 (Information Department): In compliance with the directives of District Magistrate Savin Bansal—aimed at maintaining a streamlined system for the availability and distribution of LPG gas within the district, as well as effectively curbing its black marketing—City Magistrate Pratyush Singh and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) Harigiri conducted surprise inspections of two local agencies: Amardeep Gas Agency and Satyasheel Gas Agency.
During the inspections, the City Magistrate and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) gathered detailed information regarding consumer demand, distribution mechanisms, existing backlogs, and available stock at the gas agencies. Furthermore, the grievances of consumers who had arrived to collect gas were heard and resolved on the spot. Appealing to the consumers, the officials assured them that there is an adequate supply of gas available and, therefore, there is no need for unnecessary panic.
Raising awareness among consumers, the City Magistrate and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) advised them not to share their gas delivery-related OTPs (One-Time Passwords) with anyone over the phone. They emphasized that the OTP should be provided to the delivery personnel only at the time of actual home delivery. Additionally, gas agency operators were directed to ensure that gas cylinders are supplied exclusively through the home delivery mechanism and to display essential information regarding consumer awareness—using large flex banners—within the agency premises. Instructions were also issued to ensure that agency staff maintain a courteous demeanor while interacting with consumers.
During the inspection of Amardeep Gas Agency, several complaints were lodged by consumers. Consumers Arun Kharbanda (from Badowala) and Jitendra Arora (from Ashutosh Nagar, Amrit Vihar) reported that the delivery personnel had requested their OTPs over the phone; although they subsequently received a notification confirming the gas delivery after providing the OTP, the gas cylinders were, in reality, never delivered to them. Similarly, Pankaj Thakur, a resident of Khudbura, reported that his account records indicated a gas delivery on February 6th, even though he had not actually received the cylinder. Meanwhile, Ravindra, a resident of Bahadur Road, Selaqui, also lodged a complaint stating that while a gas delivery was recorded for March 3rd, he never actually received the cylinder; furthermore, he was informed that re-booking would not be possible for another 25 days. When inquiries regarding these complaints were directed to the gas agency supervisor, he was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation. Consequently, the City Magistrate and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) issued directives to the Supply Inspector to register a case against the concerned supervisor and delivery personnel. During the inspection, the City Magistrate and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) clarified that there is an adequate stock of LPG gas available within the district, and consumers should continue to procure gas cylinders according to their requirements, just as they have in the past. Additionally, agency operators were instructed to strictly adhere to the OTP-based home delivery system and to mandatorily display an information banner (flexi-board) outside the agency premises to raise consumer awareness. CO City Swapnil Muyal, officials from the Supply Department, the Supply Inspector, and other relevant officials were present during the inspection.
Dehradun, March 14, 2026 (Information Department): Taking serious cognizance of complaints received through various channels regarding a shortage of gas cylinders at the messes of Doon Medical College and the District Hospital, District Magistrate Savin Bansal had issued directives to concerned officials to assess the ground reality and resolve the issue. In compliance with these directives, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) held a meeting with the Chief Medical Officer, doctors from Doon Medical College, and the District Supply Officer, during which necessary instructions were issued.
During the meeting, it was clarified that the hospital messes possess an adequate stock of gas cylinders relative to their consumption requirements. It was reported that the monthly consumption stands at 30 cylinders for Doon Medical College, 8 for Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital, 8 for the District Hospital, 12 for Indresh Hospital, and 8 for the Chakshah Nagar Training Center; furthermore, there is an adequate daily availability of gas cylinders at these institutions to meet their operational needs. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar, District Supply Officer K.K. Agarwal, Dr. Babli from Doon Medical College, and Dr. Nautiyal from Coronation Hospital were present at the meeting.
