*Equal access to justice to be discussed in Dehradun starting today*

As part of a significant initiative to make the justice system more accessible, inclusive, and people-oriented, the National Legal Services Authority (NLA) in collaboration with the State Legal Services Authority, Uttarakhand, Nainital, is organizing a grand North Zone Regional Conference on April 11 and 12, 2026, at the Taj Hotel in Dehradun. The central theme of the conference is “Strengthening Access to Justice.”
Ms. Seema Hungrakoti, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dehradun, informed that Honorable Judges of the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts will participate in this prestigious conference. In particular, the presence of the Honorable Chief Justice of India will add special significance to the event.
The two-day conference will delve into important issues such as ensuring equal and effective access to justice, strengthening the legal services system, prison reforms, protecting the rights of undertrial prisoners, and making human-centered legal aid more effective.
In various sessions of the conference, judicial officers, legal experts, and policymakers will share their experiences, innovations, and suggestions, which will enable concrete initiatives towards making the justice system more sensitive, transparent, and accountable.
This conference is considered an important step towards strengthening the democratic values of justice, ensuring access to legal services for the last person, and further strengthening public confidence in the judicial system.
