Dehradun: Youth fired in the air, desi pistol recovered
On the night of 10/06/2025, information was received at the ISBT outpost that someone had fired under the ISBT flyover. Police immediately went to the spot and caught a person who was being beaten by some people.
When the police took the person into custody and searched him, a desi pistol was recovered. Taking action on this, Ayush Rathi son of Narottam Singh resident of Bijnor Uttar Pradesh, 21 years, was arrested on the spot and when taken to the outpost and questioned, it was learned that the said youth was standing under the isbt flyover, where a boy and a girl were arguing over some issue, in which the auto driver and other people standing nearby started intervening on behalf of the girl. Hearing the commotion, Ayush Rathi also went to the spot and started mediating. But the crowd standing there, thinking that Ayush Rathi was the boy’s friend, started arguing with him and started dominating Ayush Rathi, on which the youth took out his country-made pistol and fired in the air in self-defense. The youth only fired in the air.
On information by the police, a case of dispute between an unknown girl and a girl came to light. The above-mentioned accused Ayush Rathi has been arrested as an illegal country-made pistol was recovered from him.
In the police investigation on the spot, the fact related to the girl being molested by the youth and the elderly being shot was not confirmed. Only a minor injury was sustained in the medical examination during the stampede.

Regarding the above incident, the people present at the spot have clarified the reason for the incident while refuting the misleading reports. Dehradun Police will take strict action against those who spread and cause to spread misleading news on social media on the basis of wrong facts.
