Dehradun: On the route from Fawwara Chowk to the Ring Road, immediately after crossing the Rispana Bridge, eight rumble strips have been placed at short intervals along the approximately 150-meter stretch from there to the Shri Ambiwala Gurudwara. These rumble strips could cause a serious accident at any time. At night, if a driver loses sight of these rumble strips, they could result in an accident.
In the above case, a public interest litigation was filed by Human Rights, RTI, and social activist Bhupendra Kumar Laxmi, requesting that on the route from Fawwara Chowk to the Ring Road in Dehradun, immediately after crossing the Rispana Bridge, eight rumble strips have been placed at short intervals along the approximately 150-meter stretch from there to the Shri Ambiwala Gurudwara. These rumble strips could cause a serious accident at any time. At night, if a driver loses sight of these rumble strips, they could result in an accident.
It is not appropriate to install eight rumble strips at short intervals on a 150-meter stretch. One or two rumble strips could have been installed on a 150-meter stretch. Why did the concerned department install so many rumble strips on such a small stretch?
The subject of the complaint is very serious and clearly involves loss of life and property. Therefore, please call for a report and take action in the public interest.
The Public Interest Litigation was heard by Ram Singh Meena (IPS), Member of the Uttarakhand Human Rights Commission, and orders were issued to the Director of Traffic, Dehradun, for action.

The complainant has filed a complaint regarding the installation of eight rumble strips at short intervals on the approximately 150-meter stretch from Fawwara Chowk, Dehradun, to the Ambiwala Gurudwara, immediately after crossing the Rispana Bridge, on the Ring Road, which poses a risk of accidents and demands immediate action in the public interest.
In the interest of justice, a copy of the complaint should be sent to the Director of Traffic, Dehradun, Uttarakhand so that he can take necessary action in this regard as per the law and rules.
The big question is, under whose orders and under which rules have these dangerous rumble strips been made at short distances, because due to these rumble strips made at short distances, vehicles wobble during the day and at night, these rumble strips can cause accidents and who will be responsible for this?
Instead of these rumble strips, speed breakers could have been made as per requirement at such a short distance.
The order has been sent by the Human Rights Commission office to the Director of Traffic on 27/10/2025.
