Dehradun: Need for a Comprehensive Investigation into Dr. Tanvi’s Suicide Case

Dehradun: There is now a pressing need for a major investigation into the suicide case of Dr. Tanvi, a medical PG student at the Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences.
Only through such an inquiry will the truth behind all the layers of this mystery be revealed. This is because there may be someone operating behind the scenes who is attempting to mislead the investigation regarding the circumstances of Dr. Tanvi’s suicide.
Doesn’t it compel one to ponder why—prior to her suicide—neither Dr. Tanvi nor her parents ever filed a written complaint with the police, the administration, the SGRR University Vice-Chancellor’s office, the Registrar’s office, or the Medical College Principal’s office? Furthermore, no suicide note has been recovered from Dr. Tanvi. It is also noteworthy that Dr. Priyanka, the Head of the Department (HOD) of Ophthalmology, shares cordial relations with all the medical students. This fact can be corroborated through interactions and inquiries with her fellow students. Consequently, numerous questions are now surfacing regarding Dr. Tanvi’s suicide. What exactly happened so suddenly—within the span of a single day—that compelled Dr. Tanvi to take such an extreme step? Dr. Tanvi’s final assignment was a general duty shift. At approximately 3:00 AM, her parents brought Tanvi to the Emergency Department, where she was declared “brought dead.” An examination of her location data and CCTV footage from the period preceding this event is also deemed necessary.
Why did Dr. Tanvi’s mother inform the Medical College that Tanvi had failed to return home? This, too, constitutes a subject requiring investigation.
In connection with this matter, SGRR Medical College has written a letter to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, apprising him of the entire sequence of events. The SGRR Medical College has also submitted the necessary documentation and medical reports pertaining to Dr. Tanvi’s psychiatric treatment.
It is pertinent to note that Dr. Tanvi had been undergoing treatment for a psychiatric condition for a considerable period. She had attempted suicide two years ago as well. At that time, following the suicide attempt, Dr. Tanvi had to be admitted to the ICU for treatment. The police had also officially recorded a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) regarding this incident. Since then, Tanvi’s parents had remained in a state of constant anxiety.
On the night of December 31, 2025, Tanvi once again attempted suicide. Why did Tanvi repeatedly attempt to take her own life? This, too, is a subject currently under investigation.
Tanvi was academically proficient in her medical studies; this fact has been corroborated by SGRR Medical College. In just two months, upon completing her PG course, Tanvi was scheduled to begin her Senior Residency (SR) tenure. Despite Tanvi’s deteriorating health, SGRR Medical College had been extending its full support to her. What, then, happened so suddenly? This raises serious suspicions.
It is also pertinent to ask here: had Dr. Tanvi been facing any issues with Dr. Priyanka—or with the college itself—over the past two years, would she not have lodged a complaint?
Would neither Tanvi, her parents, nor any of her friends have raised a grievance regarding this matter?
Dr. Tanvi’s parents were fully aware of her mental illness; consequently, they were ensuring she received regular psychiatric treatment. Due to her illness, her parents had rented a room near the college campus so they could reside close by.
The parents had previously submitted a written consent form to the MS Office, formally acknowledging Tanvi’s mental health condition. Tanvi’s tragic decision to take her own life has now raised a multitude of questions.
If Tanvi harbored any grievances against the HOD, Dr. Priyanka, why did neither Dr. Tanvi nor her parents file a written complaint regarding the matter earlier?
In this day and age, people tend to share even the most trivial details on social media; why, then, did Dr. Tanvi—or her parents, or any of her friends—fail to disclose such a grave issue on social media?
Did Dr. Tanvi commit suicide, or was this a case of murder? This, too, has now become a subject of investigation.
Why are Dr. Tanvi’s parents now targeting Dr. Priyanka? Why was Dr. Priyanka named without any concrete basis or evidence? Who is the figure behind this?
The police are conducting an investigation to get to the bottom of all these questions, ensuring that accurate information is brought to light impartially.
