Dehradun: The court of First Additional Sessions Judge Mahesh Chandra Kaushiva, while giving a historic verdict in the Mohsin murder case, said that “This murder is a contract killing done on the lines of an online ordering system like Zomato, showing mercy on which would be a betrayal of justice.” Conspiracy and method of murder
On 28 November 2022, e-rickshaw driver Mohsin was first called to Guchhupani by Arshad, Shahrukh and Ravi Kashyap by booking a rickshaw on the pretext of friendship. There, he was killed by crushing his head and face with stones after giving him alcohol and the body was thrown into the drain.
The mastermind behind this crime was Sabir Ali, who gave ₹ 2 lakh contract to his brother-in-law Raees Khan. Raees got this “order” completed by calling killers from outside through online bank transactions and mobile calls. The court remarked that this murder was done as if someone orders by clicking on a mobile app.
Key observations of the court
This “contract killing” was well planned, cruel and inhuman.
The accused not only committed the murder, but also proudly recorded the video, which shows their “extremely brutal mentality”.
CCTV footage, mobile location chart, bank transactions and call detail record (CDR) were considered conclusive evidence by the court The court, citing the precedents of the Supreme Court, said that this case falls in the category of “rarest of rare”.
Verdict
Death sentence to Arshad, Shahrukh and Ravi Kashyap.
Life imprisonment to Sabir Ali and Rais Khan.
Wife Sheeba alias Seema acquitted by giving benefit of doubt.
The report was filed by the deceased’s real brother Tauqeer and the plaintiff was represented by Arvind Kapil, Additional District Government Advocate and Vikram Singh Pundir Advocate.
Specialty of the trial
This case was heard on a day-to-day basis as per the order of the Hon’ble High Court. Completing the entire evidence, testimony of witnesses and arguments within just two years, the court proved by giving the verdict that if justice is done with determination, then there is no need for it to remain pending for years.

Experts say that this decision will not only benefit the deceased family but also the family of the deceased.
