*Chief Minister Releases the Book “Uttarakhand @25: Looking Back-Looking Forward”*
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami released the book “Uttarakhand @25: Looking Back-Looking Forward” at the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday. Published by the Doon Library and Research Centre and the Indian Institute of Public Administration, this book compiles the development journey, achievements, and experiences of the glorious 25 years since the establishment of Uttarakhand, as well as the authors’ detailed essays on the areas of work that hold immense potential in the coming 25 years.
The Chief Minister said that this book not only presents an excellent analysis of the state’s progress so far but will also provide a new direction for the state’s overall development in the future. Experts from various fields offer insightful insights on crucial topics such as governance, economic development, environmental balance, rural migration, disaster management, health and education, women’s empowerment, agriculture, culture, and journalism. He expressed hope that this book would prove beneficial for policymakers and researchers and inspire people to contribute to the sustainable, inclusive, and holistic development of Uttarakhand. He also thanked the officials, authors, and editorial board of the Doon Library and Research Centre and the Indian Institute of Public Administration for its publication.
The Chief Minister said that in the glorious journey of 25 years since the establishment of Uttarakhand, the state has faced many challenges and achieved remarkable achievements in many areas. The state has secured first place in the Sustainable Development Goals released by NITI Aayog. It has been ranked as an “Achiever” in the Ease of Doing Business and a “Leader” in the Startup Ranking. The unemployment rate has decreased by 4.4 percent. The state has achieved an “Achiever” category in logistics performance and a “Top Achiever” category in the Single Window System. The state has also received numerous awards in the field of tourism. For its outstanding performance in fisheries development, Uttarakhand has received the National Award for Best State and the first place in the country in the growth rate of farmers’ income. He said that Uttarakhand has the distinction of being the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
The book “Uttarakhand @ 25: Looking Back-Looking Forward” contains 28 articles on the state’s development journey, challenges and possibilities. A total of 31 authors and co-authors have contributed to it.
On this occasion, the book’s chief editor N.S. Napalchal, editors N. Ravi Shankar and Dr. Sudharani Pandey, President of Doon Library and Research Centre Prof. B.K. Joshi, former Chief Secretary Indu Kumar Pandey, Radha Raturi, former DGP Anil Raturi and dignitaries from various fields were present.
