Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, respecting the request and sentiments of the parents of the late Ankita Bhandari, has recommended a CBI investigation into the Ankita Bhandari case.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami clarified that the government’s objective has been and will continue to be to ensure justice in a fair, transparent, and sensitive manner from beginning to end.
The Chief Minister said that as soon as the state government received information about this extremely tragic and heartbreaking incident involving the late Ankita Bhandari, it took action without any delay, with complete sensitivity and impartiality. Considering the seriousness of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was immediately formed under the leadership of a woman IPS officer.
The Chief Minister stated that all the accused involved in the case were arrested promptly, and effective and strong legal representation was ensured by the state government, as a result of which none of the accused could obtain bail during the investigation and trial. After a thorough investigation by the SIT, a charge sheet was filed against the accused, and upon completion of the trial in the lower court, the accused were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this entire case is clear proof that the state government has ensured justice with fairness, transparency, and firmness from beginning to end. Additionally, separate FIRs have been registered regarding some audio clips circulating on social media recently, and the investigation process is continuously underway.
The Chief Minister unequivocally stated that the government’s intention is completely clear and no fact or evidence will be overlooked. He emotionally said that Ankita was not just a victim, but she was also our sister and daughter.
The Chief Minister informed that he recently met with the parents of the late Ankita Bhandari, during which they requested a CBI investigation into the case. The Chief Minister said that respecting this request and the sentiments of the late Ankita’s parents, the state government has decided to have the case investigated by the CBI. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated that the state government has always been committed to ensuring justice and will continue to be fully determined and sensitive in its efforts to secure justice for the late Ankita Bhandari.
