For the grand event of the 2027 Kumbh to be held in Haridwar, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with the Acharyas and saints of all 13 Akharas on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar on Friday. For the first time, a meeting was held on the banks of the Ganga for the grand event of the Kumbh. During the meeting, the Chief Minister also announced the important dates for the 2027 Kumbh Snan. He announced the bathing dates for Makar Sankranti on January 14, 2027, Mauni Amavasya on February 6, 2027, Vasant Panchami on February 11, 2027, Magh Purnima on February 20, 2027, Mahashivratri (Amrit Snan) on March 6, 2027, Phalguna Amavasya (Amrit Snan) on March 8, 2027, Nav Samvatsara (New Year) on April 7, 2027, Mesha Sankranti (Amrit Snan) on April 14, 2027, Shri Ram Navami on April 15, 2027, and Chaitra Purnima on April 20, 2027.
The Chief Minister sought suggestions and guidance from the Acharyas of the Akharas for the successful organization of the Kumbh. The Chief Minister said that the traditions, needs, and facilities of the saints will be given top priority in all decisions related to the Kumbh. The Chief Minister said that it is his good fortune to receive the blessings and guidance of the saints for the well-organized and grand organization of the Kumbh. He said that without the saints’ inspiration, suggestions, and blessings, the completion of this grand plan is unimaginable. It is our endeavor to use everyone’s invaluable suggestions to make the preparations for Kumbh 2027 more comprehensive, well-organized, and in line with the expectations of the saint community.
The Chief Minister said that you all know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for establishing Devbhoomi Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world. Carrying forward this resolve, the state government is working tirelessly with full commitment to make Kumbh 2027 grand, divine, and historic. He said that the Kumbh held in 2021 was only held for a short period due to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, and even the royal bath was performed symbolically. However, the Haridwar Kumbh to be held in 2027 will be historic and of special significance in many respects. The number of devotees coming this year is expected to be many times greater than the 2010 and 2021 Kumbhs. The state government has already begun extensive preparations to ensure a divine, grand, and safe Haridwar Kumbh 2027. Full coordination has been established with state and central security agencies for the safety of devotees and saints.
The Chief Minister stated that all relevant departments, including the police, NDRF, PAC, health department, and fire department, will ensure all possible security measures. Keeping in mind previous accidents during the Kumbh, preparations for crowd control, traffic management, and emergency response have already begun. The full cooperation of officials who successfully conducted previous Kumbh Melas will also be sought to ensure smooth and orderly conduct of every process. During the Kumbh, special teams will be formed to ensure cleanliness in the city and ghat areas, with special attention paid to waste management, drainage, and environmental protection.
Acharyas and saints from the Akharas praised the steps taken by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to preserve the culture of the state. He stated that the saint community would fully support the state government in organizing a grand and divine Kumbh. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also shared a meal with the Acharyas and saints from the Akharas.
