Major action by Uttarakhand STF against criminals taking shelter in Uttarakhand under Operation Prahar.
♦️ Under Operation Prahar being run in the state on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand STF’s action against fugitives from other states and criminals and gangsters taking shelter in the state is continuing.*
♦️ Early this morning, in a joint operation of Uttarakhand STF, Punjab Police and Udham Singh Nagar Police, a wanted criminal from Punjab was arrested from Bajpur in Udham Singh Nagar district.
♦️ Action is being taken against criminals and gangsters who have come from outside the state so that they cannot take shelter here – SSP STF*
In line with the vision of *Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami for a “Crime Free Uttarakhand” and under the direction of Director General of Police, Uttarakhand Deepam Seth*, the *Special Task Force (STF) Uttarakhand* is taking action to apprehend/arrest fugitive criminals/gangsters from outside the state. In this sequence, today on 15/06/2026, in the morning, in a joint operation of Uttarakhand STF, Punjab Police and Bajpur Police, fugitive/wanted criminal from Punjab, Ishanpreet Singh, son of Jagjit Singh, resident of Gali No. 1, Surata Singh Colony, Narayangarh, Police Station Cheharta, Amritsar City, was arrested from Mohalla Keshavnagar, Bajpur, District Udham Singh Nagar. FIR No. Case No. 111 dated 23.05.2026 u/s 21-C, 25 NDPS Act, 25 Arms Act is registered in PS ANTF SAS Nagar.
SSP STF Uttarakhand Ajay Singh informed that on May 23, 2026, as part of the ongoing campaign against drug and arms smugglers in Amritsar, Punjab, a joint search operation was conducted by Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Amritsar and BSF team. This action was raided at the residence of Ishanpreet Singh son of Jagjit Singh, resident of Gali No. 1, Surata Singh Colony, Naraingarh, Police Station Cheharta, Amritsar City. During the search operation, on seeing the police team, the accused Ishanpreet Singh jumped from the roof of the house and escaped from the back side. During the search, a large quantity of illegal weapons and drugs were recovered from his home, including:
🔹 A total of 12 illegal pistols
• 03 Beretta pistols
• 03 Zigana pistols
• 06 Made in China pistols
🔹 20 magazines
🔹 Approximately 900 grams of heroin
STF SSP Ajay Singh stated that upon contacting the Punjab Police, it was revealed that these weapons and drugs had been delivered to Ishanpreet via drone from across the border in Pakistan. Since then, extensive efforts have been made by the Punjab Police and security forces to locate him. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) was informed by the Punjab Police that Ishanpreet was in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, following which a team was deployed for this task. Early this morning, in a joint operation conducted by the STF Uttarakhand and the ANTF of Punjab Police and the local police team, the criminal was arrested from Keshav Nagar in Bajpur. After interrogation, he was handed over to the Punjab Police. A detailed investigation will be conducted by the concerned state, Punjab.
