Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the students at the Student Union function held at DAV PG College, Dehradun on Saturday. Describing the youth as the key force behind nation-building, he wished them a bright future.
In his address, the Chief Minister stated that youth are not only the future of the country, but also its present. Their energy, determination, and innovative thinking determine the direction of India’s development. He described student politics as an important medium for leadership development, organizational capacity, and social responsibility.
The Chief Minister stated that joining organizations like the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad fosters national service, character building, and social consciousness among youth. He added that the Parishad’s workers are making significant contributions to the national interest, from educational institutions to the country’s borders. Citing the ideals of the great social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the Chief Minister said that the purpose of education is not merely to obtain a degree, but also to cultivate character and nation-building.
The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, numerous youth-centric schemes are being implemented in the country, including initiatives like “Make in India,” Digital India, Startup India, and Skill India, which have played a crucial role in empowering youth. He stated that the state government is committed to making Uttarakhand a leader in education and innovation. Under the new education policy, advanced courses such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are being encouraged in higher educational institutions. Scientific research is also being promoted through projects like Science City and Astro Park.
The Chief Minister stated that the state’s higher education infrastructure is being strengthened. Nine new colleges are being established, 20 model colleges are being constructed, and women’s hostels, IT labs, and examination halls are being constructed. Additionally, new recruitments are being made to address the shortage of teachers in educational institutions.
The Chief Minister stated that a strict anti-cheating law has been implemented in the state to protect the interests of youth, which has yielded positive results. He said that in the last four years, more than 30 thousand youth have got government jobs.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced the construction of two additional floors (first and second) on the roof of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Academic Block of DAV PG College.
Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, Shri Ram Singh Kaida, MLA Umesh Kumar, Principal DAV PG College Prof. Kaushal Kumar, Student Union President Rishabh Malhotra, General Secretary Karan Negi and other public representatives were present on this occasion.
