Holi is a festival of joy and happiness, and all preparations have been completed by the #DehradunPolice to ensure its safe completion. The police have examined previous disputes during the festival and identified all unruly elements who may attempt to disrupt peace during the festival, and taken necessary preventive action against them. In addition, peace committee meetings have been held in all police station areas with respectable individuals and public representatives of all religions, urging them to maintain mutual harmony during the festival and to immediately inform the police of anyone attempting to create chaos and anarchy during the festival.
For security purposes, the entire district has been divided into three super zones, eight zones, 21 sectors, and 53 subsectors. An Additional Superintendent of Police-level officer is in charge of the super zone, a Circle Officer-level officer is in charge of the zone, the respective police station in-charge is in charge of the sector, and a Sub-Inspector-rank officer is in charge of the sub-sector. Static forces have been deployed in mobile parties in all areas, regularly patrolling to ensure security and peace during the festival, keeping a close watch on all developments. Additional police forces have been deployed at sensitive locations, and PCRs have been deployed in all police station areas for prompt response to any information.
The police are also monitoring all social media platforms 24×7. Strict action will be taken against those who attempt to disrupt religious harmony by spreading animosity through misleading news and controversial posts on social media.
In view of the Holika Dahan program to be organized at various places in the district, the police has talked to all the organizers and instructed them to organize the program only at the designated places and not to start any new tradition.
