🏆 Historic Gold for Indian Navy: Coach Abhinav Bhatnagar’s Strategy Powers Beach Sprint Rowing Victory
The Indian Navy created history by winning the gold medal at the inaugural Beach Sprint National Rowing Championship 2026, held at Vanguinim Beach in Goa. The victory was not just about winning a medal; it reflected the result of a carefully designed high-performance training program led by head coach Abhinav Bhatnagar.
Beach Sprint Rowing is a demanding and rapidly evolving format that requires far more than raw strength. Athletes must execute explosive starts on sand, maintain precise boat control in open water, and make split-second tactical decisions. Understanding these challenges, coach Bhatnagar developed a specialized training framework combining physical conditioning, technical precision, race simulations, and mental resilience to prepare his athletes for every aspect of the format.
The results were remarkable. Navy rowers Robin and Prabhakar Singh Rajawat remained unbeaten throughout the championship and delivered a dominant performance in the final. They defeated the Services team by nearly 10 seconds, finishing with an impressive time of 2 minutes and 28 seconds to secure the gold medal.
Both athletes credited their success to the guidance of their head coach, highlighting his clarity in strategy, strong focus on technique, and continuous motivational support.
