Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital organized a special camp for mentally disabled children in Jhandichaur, Kotdwar.

ऽ On the initiative of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, specialist doctors from Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital conducted detailed examinations.

ऽ A major step towards mental health screening of special children.

To understand the increasing number of children suffering from mental and developmental problems in Jhandichaur and surrounding areas, a special health camp was organized in Jhandichaur, Kotdwar, under the joint aegis of Shri Guru Ram Rai University and Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Patel Nagar, Dehradun. Local representatives from the area brought to the attention of Assembly Speaker Ritu Bhushan Khanduri that a large number of children in the area are mentally disabled or facing developmental problems.

 

On Tuesday, the program was inaugurated by Dr. Kamlesh Kumar, Director of Purvi Bharti Devi Education Foundation, Kotdwar, by lighting a lamp. It is noteworthy that, in light of this serious issue related to children’s mental health, Assembly Speaker Ritu Bhushan Khanduri, during her visit to Sri Darbar Sahib, Dehradun, requested the Honorable Chairman of Sri Guru Ram Rai University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, to organize a special camp in Jhandichaur, Kotdwar. Following this concern, a six-member team of specialist doctors from Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital set up a camp in Jhandichaur on Tuesday and conducted mental, physical, and developmental tests on over 100 children. At the special camp, the team of doctors assessed the children’s mental health and compiled detailed data based on the screening. Based on this data, the team will determine the potential medical, nutritional, or environmental causes of mental disabilities and behavioral problems in this area. A large number of children and their parents from surrounding areas, including Jhandichaur, Lokmanipur, Kishanpur, Kalaal Ghati, and Haldukhata, attended the camp and provided detailed information regarding the children’s health to the doctors.

Dr. Vidushi Makkad and Dr. Mankaran Sandhu from the Department of Psychiatry at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dehradun, Dr. Archana Singh and Dr. Anupam Joshi, pediatric psychiatrists from the Department of Pediatrics, and Dr. Ravikant and Dr. Alok Kumar from the Department of Community Medicine provided their medical services at this special camp. Local support included Balraj Dutta, Satya Prakash Thapliyal, Dr. Nand Kishore, Jitendra Negi, Director of SGRR Public School, Dhirendra Mohan Raturi, Principal of SGRR Paramedical College, Dr. Girish Uniyal, and Harishankar Gaur, Public Relations Officer of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.
