*Doon Police appeals to all the tourists/general public coming to Mussoorie, to cooperate in the smooth movement of traffic by following the traffic/route diversion plan prepared by the police.*

Currently, during the travel/tourist season, a large number of tourists are visiting the tourist places of Dehradun, Mussoorie and other places. On assessing the number of tourists visiting Mussoorie in the past few days, it was learnt that on normal days, around 8 thousand vehicles visit Mussoorie, but during the weekends, this number increases to more than 15 thousand. At present, around 414 hotels and homestays are operating in the Mussoorie area, which have a parking capacity of around 4590 vehicles, according to which the number of vehicles visiting Mussoorie is 3 to 4 times more than the parking capacity.

The details of the preparations made by the Doon Police to ensure smooth traffic movement and to protect tourists and the general public from the heavy traffic pressure in the said situation are as follows:-

01: In view of the excess and heavy traffic in Mussoorie, additional police force has been deployed on main roads, parking places and crowded places. 

02: In coordination with various departments for traffic management, it has been decided that there will be a gap of 03 hours between check in and check out time in various hotels, so that the number of tourist vehicles coming to Mussoorie and going back from Mussoorie at the same time can be controlled. 

03: In order to keep effective control over traffic, the places with high traffic pressure are being identified with the help of drones and the traffic system is being streamlined by informing the nearest police personnel as soon as possible and the traffic diversion plan is being implemented as per drone monitoring. 04: In view of the smooth flow of traffic and safety of tourists, CCTV cameras at all important points have been connected to the local control room, and when the traffic pressure increases, the police personnel present in the field are informed, so that smooth flow of traffic is ensured as soon as possible. 

05: To ensure public participation in travel management in Mussoorie, seminars are being organized with stakeholders at the district level, and their help is also being taken for smooth flow of traffic and to save tourists from any kind of inconvenience. 

06: Except for vehicles related to essential services on weekends, entry of big vehicles in Mussoorie has been completely prohibited during the day and night as per requirement.  

07: Smart City has installed large VMD variable message displays at various places in Dehradun and VMDs at 66 bus shelters, on which the actual status of traffic, diversion plan, information regarding routes and warning and information regarding road blocks and landslides are being provided continuously for the convenience of tourists. 

08: In view of the possibility of landslides, floods, cloudbursts and road accidents in hilly areas like Mussoorie, Doon Police is taking action in coordination with other departments like SDRF/CAPE/SEOC/IMD/NDRF and the district administration. 

09: For the convenience of tourists, QR codes have been prepared for proper information about the parking place/route of Mussoorie, along with this, flex and banners related to information have been installed at appropriate places for the convenience of tourists and pamphlets are also being distributed.  

10: In case of heavy traffic pressure, the traffic going from Dehradun to Mussoorie will be diverted from Shimla bypass to Ballupur Chowk to Supply Chowk towards Kimadi road via Hathi Paon to Zero Point towards Mussoorie. Due to the said route being very narrow and deserted, the traffic will be diverted on the said route only till 17:00 pm. For the convenience of tourists, additional police force has been arranged for travel management on the route.

*11: For operation of shuttle service, parking plan for vehicles in Mussoorie will be as follows:-* 

*01: Plan: A:* Traffic coming from Dehradun towards Mussoorie will be operated from King Craig towards Library Chowk and Picture Palace. 

*02: Plan: B:*- Vehicles of tourists going towards Mussoorie on King Craig will be parked in King Craig parking. From where tourists will be taken to their destination with the help of shuttle service. Parking facility for 212 vehicles is available at King Craig. 

*03: Plan: C*: Tourists will be sent to their destination through shuttle service as per requirement from Gajji Band. 220 vehicles will be parked at 28 places on the vacant land available near Bansai State from Gajji Band. *Diversion Plan:*

01: Due to increased traffic pressure in Mussoorie, vehicles coming from Tehri Bus Station towards Dehradun are being diverted via Civil Hospital and vehicles coming from Landour are being parked in MDDA parking and vehicles going towards Dehradun will be diverted via Municipal Office towards Picture Palace Bus Station.

02: Vehicles going from Library Chowk towards Picture Palace will be diverted from Ambedkar Chowk (Ghoda Stand) towards Camel Back Road and will be sent to their respective destinations via Green Chowk Kuldi Bazaar and Picture Palace Barrier.

03: Vehicles going from Mussoorie to Dehradun will be diverted via King Greg, JP Band towards Barlowganj and will be sent towards Dehradun via Jhadipani.

04: Vehicles going towards Picture Palace will be sent from Bada Mod via Vine Square Allen School towards Barlowganj.

 05: In case of traffic pressure at Library Chowk, vehicles going from Dehradun to Kempty will be diverted from Spring Road via Kala School to Harnam Singh Marg via Zero Point to Kempty Falls.

06: In case of traffic pressure in Mussoorie, vehicles going from Dehradun to Mussoorie will be diverted from Gajji Band to Hathi Paon.

07: In case of traffic pressure in Kuldi Bazaar, vehicles will be diverted towards Brat Wood Hotel and then towards Clark Hotel.

08: Vehicles going to Mussoorie from Haridwar/Bhaniawala/Doiwala/Rishikesh will be sent to Mussoorie as per requirement from Kailash Hospital Cut, Jogiwala, Ring Road, Sahastradhara Crossing, IT Park, Sai Mandir.

 09: Vehicles going to Mussoorie from Asharodi and Premnagar will be sent to Mussoorie as per requirement from ISBT to Shimla Bypass Chowk to Ballupur Chowk to Gadhi Cantt to Anarwala to Kuthalgate.

*10: Vehicles returning from Mussoorie to Dehradun will be sent as per the following plan:-*

*Bataghat-Anupam Chowk- Landour-Bada Mod-Dhanolti Road via J.P. Band- Barloganj- Jhadipani- Kuthalgate- Old Mussoorie Road- Sai Mandir- IT Park- Sahastradhara Crossing- Ladpur Tihara- 06 No. Bridge- Jogiwala towards destination*

11: To maintain traffic system on weekends, CO Mussoorie is camping in Mussoorie and CO Traffic on Rajpur Road and 24X7 real time monitoring of traffic management is being done under their close supervision.

 12: The district police is keeping a special watch on hooligans/loitering people in Mussoorie and Rajpur Road on other days as well as on weekends. Legal action is being taken continuously under the “Operation Lagaam” going on in the district against those who violate traffic rules and those who drive vehicles after consuming alcohol. 

*Advisory for visitors coming to Mussoorie:*

01: Park the vehicles only at the designated parking places, control the speed of your vehicle on mountain roads. 

02: Do not consume alcohol and other intoxicants while driving. 

03: Take extreme caution while driving in case of bad weather, keeping in mind the warnings of rain, landslides etc. 

04: Avoid driving on mountain roads at night. 

05: Avoid taking selfies at dangerous places like ditches/slopes or places with fast flow of water. 

 06: Drive your vehicle only following the route/diversion plan issued by the local police. While driving the vehicle, avoid driving dangerously with the sunroof of the vehicle.

07: Do not pay attention to any kind of rumor and avoid spreading wrong information.
