The decisions of the empowered District Road Safety Committee made by the Supreme Court are paramount, an order was issued to shift 06 liquor shops obstructing traffic.
The life-giving Road Safety Committee is selectively eliminating the major factors of accidents obstructing traffic.
Dehradun: Another direct effect of the active and reformative decision of the empowered Road Safety Committee of District Magistrate Savin Basnal was the order of shifting of 06 liquor shops. The concerned licensees had appealed in the High Court against the order, which was rejected by the High Court. The Excise Commissioner has also agreed with the decision of the DM. The Chief Minister has authorized the DM to take a decision in case of obstruction in public safety, local opposition due to liquor shops, sub-shops, obstruction in law and order, public anger. In the meeting of Road Safety Committee held on 27th March under the chairmanship of DM, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police Traffic, citing the liquor shops at 6 places as the main reason for increasing road accidents and traffic jams in the city, strongly recommended removal of liquor shops from these places GMS Road, Bindalpul Chakrata Road-2, Dalanwala near Parade Ground, Adhoivala Chuna Bhatta Desi-Videshi, Karanpur Parade Ground in view of public safety from traffic disruption. On the proposal of the police, the DM had issued orders to shift the liquor shops which were posing a threat to public safety and obstructing traffic within 01 week. On disobeying the orders, the district administration has now suspended the licenses of all 06 shops.
The DM has adopted a strict stand on issues related to the general public and public safety. The DM has clarified that no obstruction will be tolerated in the direction of public safety and public life. In this sequence, the Jeevandayini Road Safety Committee, empowered with the powers given by the Supreme Court, is continuously taking new decisions in public interest.
