Dehradun: A case has finally been registered after a year and a quarter of the salary scam of about Rs 9 crore in the name of 99 fake employees in the cleanliness committees of the Municipal Corporation came to light. After the pressure of the High Court, the Municipal Corporation has registered a case against the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the Swachhta Samiti in the city police station. The police have started the investigation, and the next hearing will be held in the court on July 7. After the Municipal Corporation Board was dissolved in December 2023, the District Magistrate was made the administrator. During this time, salary withdrawal in the name of fake employees in the Swachhta Samitis was revealed. The investigation found that 99 employees were only on paper, in whose name lakhs of rupees were paid.

In May 2024, on a petition by an advocate, the High Court questioned the government’s action, after which a hearing was held on June 6 and the Municipal Corporation took immediate action and filed a case. City Kotwal Pradeep Pant said that the role of the officials of the Swachhata Samiti is being investigated in the investigation.
