*Tree Falls on Vehicle in Dehradun, One Dead*
Dehradun, June 3, 2025: A tragic incident occurred today near Bhawani Balika Inter College on Chakrata Road, under the jurisdiction of Basant Vihar Police Station, when a roadside tree fell onto a moving Max vehicle due to heavy rainfall. The vehicle, bearing registration number UK 09TA 0433, was traveling from Dehradun to Barkot, Uttarkashi, carrying passengers.
According to police reports, the Basant Vihar Police Station received information about the incident through the control room and promptly dispatched a team to the site near Ballupur Flyover. The vehicle, driven by Mahavir Singh Rawat, son of Bachchan Singh Rawat, a resident of Garh Karal Deval, Uttarkashi, was carrying six passengers at the time of the accident.
Arvind Pal, aged 48, son of Premlal, a resident of Uttarkashi, who was seated in the middle row, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Doon Hospital via 108 ambulance services. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Another passenger sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment. The remaining passengers escaped unharmed.
The police have initiated procedures for the deceased, including a panchayatnama and postmortem. The damaged vehicle has been moved to the Basant Vihar Police Station premises for safety and further investigation.
Authorities are looking into the incident, and necessary measures are being taken to ensure such accidents are prevented in the future.
